What is an endorsement?
|
For many families, endorsements are one of the most challenging pieces of their student's graduation plan to understand. One of the most common comparisons you might hear is that is like a college major but for high school.
An endorsement is defined as “a coherent sequence or series of courses” in one of five areas: STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics), Business and Industry, Public Service, Arts and Humanities, and Multidisciplinary Studies. The endorsement that your student completes will be noted on their transcript. |
How many credits are required to complete an endorsement?
|
Most endorsements required students to completed at least 4 credits in a "coherent sequence of courses".
|
What is a Program of Study? |
Programs of study are the "coherent sequence of courses". Within a given endorsement, there are several programs of study for your student to choose from.
See the handout below to see which programs of study we offer in each of our Endorsements and which courses students must take to fulfill the requirements for one of these. All students need to choose one program of study to begin working on during their freshman year. Unsure about what you want to do? Overwhelmed by all the choices? Consider doing the Multidisciplinary Endorsement which offers the highest degree of flexibility for you to try electives from different programs of study. |
