The following Programs of Study and electives are available for students in Public Services:

Education- Early Learning
This program of study begins with Principles of Human Services where you will learn Skills for LIFE (early childhood development, family functions etc.)! The second course in this program is Child Development. This class will give you insight on parenting and promoting the healthy development of children. You will even get to take a baby simulator home overnight. The third course is Child Guidance. In this course, students intern at daycares where they plan and direct instruction and activities under the direction of a teacher. The final course is Practicum in Human Services. It is the second year of an internship providing advanced knowledge of early childhood development as well as effective teaching and training practices.

In this course, students intern at a school where they plan and direct instruction and activities under the direction of a teacher. The final course is Practicum in Education and Training. It is the second year of an internship providing advanced knowledge of child and adolescent development as well as effective teaching and training practices.

Health & Wellness

This p rogram of study begins with Principles of Human Services, where you will learn Skills for LIFE (nutrition, diet, wellness etc.). In the second year of study, you will advance to Lifetime Nutrition and Wellness where you will gain knowledge about lifestyles that promote wellness (1 semester). Also in the second year of study, you will take Interpersonal Studies, which is a class that examines relationships and gives insight on how to manage multiple roles (1 semester). The third course in this program is Applied Nutrition and Dietetics. This course applies career -focused topics related to nutrition such as the nutrition care process, types of nutrition education and counseling, development of nutrition programs, and nutrition industry related research. The final course is Practicum in Human Services. It provides background knowledge and occupation-specific training .
